SEED SELF SERVICE
Self-service kiosks for Michigan dispensaries
Shorter lines, bigger carts, and loyalty sign-ups that happen on their own — kiosks synced live to your POS. Michigan has one of the highest store counts in the country and tight prices to match — when margins are thin, labor hours and line speed decide who stays.
KIOSKS IN MICHIGAN
Built for the room Michigan actually has
Regulars want out in five minutes; first-timers want to read without being hovered over. Kiosks serve both: an express lane for the shoppers who know their order, and pressure-free browsing for the ones still deciding — sort, filter, and read at their own pace, which matters in a store where the products live behind glass. Checkout asks for three things — first name, last name, phone number — and the order lands in your POS.
40% higher average order value
Nobody explores add-ons while a line forms behind them. Kiosks let shoppers browse without the clock — and our recommendation engine suggests relevant products at the moments that matter. Less rush, bigger carts.
150% more loyalty sign-ups
Enrollment happens at the kiosk, mid-order, with no extra step at the counter — which is why stores see dramatically more sign-ups than on standard kiosks. Loyalty grows while the line moves.
Your brand on the glass, not ours
Kiosks are fully white-label: your colors, your logo, your voice. And checkout asks shoppers for exactly three things — first name, last name, phone number — because sixteen form fields is how you end a line-skipping express lane.
“Happy Valley has reported up to 26% larger order sizes on Seed, compared to traditional sales.”

IN-STORE SCREEN RULES · MICHIGAN
What you can show on screens in Michigan
Michigan regulates advertising content rather than in-store media. No false or misleading statements on any sign, no health claims unless FDA-qualified, and product must be presented as "marihuana" for people 21 and older or "medical marihuana" for registered patients. Any advertised product must carry the warnings in R 420.504, and the rule does not distinguish in-store screens from other media. Nothing in the current rules restricts showing prices, discounts, or promotions on an in-store screen, and there is no window-visibility rule for retail displays or advertising; the often-quoted "visible from any street, sidewalk, park" language came from superseded emergency rules. A store may not call itself a "dispensary," "pharmacy," or "apothecary" on signage or screens. Co-located medical and adult-use stores must keep displayed items clearly distinguishable, and the license must be prominently displayed. A comprehensive rules rewrite was heard in July 2026 and is not yet in effect.
Applies to: medical and adult-use licensees, under one rule. Regulator: Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA).
- Advertising and marketing must comply with local sign ordinances, state law, and the rules. (R 420.507(1))
- No deceptive, false, or misleading advertising, expressly including statements on any sign. “may not advertise a marihuana product in a way that is deceptive, false, or misleading” (R 420.507(2))
- No health or health-benefit claims unless FDA-qualified or approved. (R 420.507(3))
- Any advertised or marketed product must include the warnings listed in R 420.504, such as the driving warning, the Poison Control number, and the 21+ or patient-only statement; the rule does not distinguish in-store screens. “Any marihuana product advertised or marketed must include the warnings listed in R 420.504(1)(k).” (R 420.507(4))
- Adult-use product must be advertised as "marihuana" for use by people 21 and older and not marketed to under-21s; medical product as "medical marihuana" for registered patients and caregivers. (R 420.507(6)-(9))
- A store may not refer to itself as a "dispensary," "pharmacy," or "apothecary" on signage or in advertising. “may not refer to itself as a "dispensary" and may not use the word "dispensary" in its advertising” (CRA advisory bulletin, April 13, 2022 (MCL 333.17711))
- Co-located medical and adult-use stores must physically separate inventory and displayed items so product types are clearly identifiable. (R 420.205(3))
- The license must be framed and prominently displayed in the business. (R 420.203(2)(h))
- No window-visibility rule for retail displays or advertising exists in the current rules; the "visible from any street, sidewalk, park" language came from superseded emergency rules. (R 420.507; R 420.206)
- No provisions on prices, discounts, free product, depiction of consumption, sign count or size, pre-approval, fees, or video and motion signs were found in the current rules. (R 420.501 to 420.511)
Potency on menus: No rule found for menus or displays. THC and CBD concentration is a package-label requirement (R 420.504(1)(f)).
Where the rule is "keep it accurate," a menu that reads from the POS does the work: sold-out products drop off on their own and the price on the wall is the price at the register. Where the rule is about content, the layout and the campaign are yours to keep inside the lines.
