TV MENUS IN MICHIGAN

The menu is the store

Michigan has one of the highest store counts in the country and tight prices to match — when margins are thin, labor hours and line speed decide who stays. The menu is the most-read thing in the store. When it’s wrong — a sold-out SKU still up, a stale price — your budtenders spend the day apologizing for it. When it’s synced, they sell.

LIVE POS SYNC

Never sell what you don’t have.

Sold out? Off the menu before anyone asks for it. New price at the register? On the wall without anyone retyping a thing. Seed menus read your live POS inventory, so the most-read surface in your store is also the most accurate.

Feature the brands you want to move, schedule the weekend promo weeks ahead, and run holiday campaigns across every screen without opening a design app. If someone on your team rebuilds menu graphics every morning, your signage is costing you payroll.

IN-STORE SCREEN RULES · MICHIGAN

What you can show on screens in Michigan

Michigan regulates advertising content rather than in-store media. No false or misleading statements on any sign, no health claims unless FDA-qualified, and product must be presented as "marihuana" for people 21 and older or "medical marihuana" for registered patients. Any advertised product must carry the warnings in R 420.504, and the rule does not distinguish in-store screens from other media. Nothing in the current rules restricts showing prices, discounts, or promotions on an in-store screen, and there is no window-visibility rule for retail displays or advertising; the often-quoted "visible from any street, sidewalk, park" language came from superseded emergency rules. A store may not call itself a "dispensary," "pharmacy," or "apothecary" on signage or screens. Co-located medical and adult-use stores must keep displayed items clearly distinguishable, and the license must be prominently displayed. A comprehensive rules rewrite was heard in July 2026 and is not yet in effect.

Applies to: medical and adult-use licensees, under one rule. Regulator: Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA).

  • Advertising and marketing must comply with local sign ordinances, state law, and the rules. (R 420.507(1))
  • No deceptive, false, or misleading advertising, expressly including statements on any sign. “may not advertise a marihuana product in a way that is deceptive, false, or misleading” (R 420.507(2))
  • No health or health-benefit claims unless FDA-qualified or approved. (R 420.507(3))
  • Any advertised or marketed product must include the warnings listed in R 420.504, such as the driving warning, the Poison Control number, and the 21+ or patient-only statement; the rule does not distinguish in-store screens. “Any marihuana product advertised or marketed must include the warnings listed in R 420.504(1)(k).” (R 420.507(4))
  • Adult-use product must be advertised as "marihuana" for use by people 21 and older and not marketed to under-21s; medical product as "medical marihuana" for registered patients and caregivers. (R 420.507(6)-(9))
  • A store may not refer to itself as a "dispensary," "pharmacy," or "apothecary" on signage or in advertising. “may not refer to itself as a "dispensary" and may not use the word "dispensary" in its advertising” (CRA advisory bulletin, April 13, 2022 (MCL 333.17711))
  • Co-located medical and adult-use stores must physically separate inventory and displayed items so product types are clearly identifiable. (R 420.205(3))
  • The license must be framed and prominently displayed in the business. (R 420.203(2)(h))
  • No window-visibility rule for retail displays or advertising exists in the current rules; the "visible from any street, sidewalk, park" language came from superseded emergency rules. (R 420.507; R 420.206)
  • No provisions on prices, discounts, free product, depiction of consumption, sign count or size, pre-approval, fees, or video and motion signs were found in the current rules. (R 420.501 to 420.511)

Potency on menus: No rule found for menus or displays. THC and CBD concentration is a package-label requirement (R 420.504(1)(f)).

Where the rule is "keep it accurate," a menu that reads from the POS does the work: sold-out products drop off on their own and the price on the wall is the price at the register. Where the rule is about content, the layout and the campaign are yours to keep inside the lines.

TV menus in Michigan: questions, answered

Which POS systems does Seed support in Michigan?

The majors: Dutchie, Treez, Blaze, Flowhub, COVA, LeafLogix, Meadow, Weave, MJ Freeway, IndicaOnline, and more. Products, prices, stock status, and specials flow from your POS to every screen automatically — here’s exactly what syncs.

How fast do menu changes show up on screen?

Menus re-check your POS about every ten minutes by default, and you can trigger an immediate refresh from Seed Manager whenever you need one. We’d rather tell you the real number than claim “instant.”

Do I need to buy new TVs?

No. Seed runs on any TV with an HDMI port. Most stores use the Amazon Signage Stick (code SEEDSAMZN takes 10% off) or an Apple TV 4K. The full rundown is on our hardware page, and the TV buying guide covers sizes, panels, and what to skip.

Can I show my deals and specials?

Deals are what screens do best. Specials sync from your POS along with everything else — including strike-through pricing — and Seed’s campaign tools let you feature a deal big on any screen, at any store, on a schedule.

What does it cost?

Pricing is per location with unlimited screens, playlists, and users — add a screen over the register or three more down the sales floor and your bill stays put. Book a demo for a quote on your store count.

How fast can my store go live?

Most Michigan stores would follow the same playbook as everywhere else: signed to screens live in about a week, with our design team building your first layouts from your brand. Book a demo and we’ll show your actual menu on screen.
