TV MENUS IN RHODE ISLAND

The menu is the store

Rhode Island is small and zoned, so each store owns its territory — and the room has to work hard to keep it. The menu is the most-read thing in the store. When it’s wrong — a sold-out SKU still up, a stale price — your budtenders spend the day apologizing for it. When it’s synced, they sell.

LIVE POS SYNC

Never sell what you don’t have.

Sold out? Off the menu before anyone asks for it. New price at the register? On the wall without anyone retyping a thing. Seed menus read your live POS inventory, so the most-read surface in your store is also the most accurate.

IN-STORE SCREEN RULES · RHODE ISLAND

What you can show on screens in Rhode Island

Rhode Island defines advertising broadly as calling public attention to a product or service and states no in-store carve-out, so a menu or promo screen should be treated as advertising. Advertising must clearly include the universal symbol in color, the establishment’s license number, and the statement "For Ages 21+ and medical cannabis patients." It may not suggest curative or unproven therapeutic effects, target or appeal to minors (animal or cartoon characters, toys, cartoon writing, images of minors), use fluorescent or neon colors, show consumption or transfer of cannabis, encourage excessive consumption, include alcohol or nicotine content, or depict people under the influence, and it may not be displayed within 500 feet of a K-12 school. No restriction on showing prices, discounts, or specials was found in the current rule; the former rule reported to ban price and discount terms was repealed effective September 15, 2025. Licensing rules require that cannabis products not be visible from the street, but no rule addresses screens visible through windows, sign counts, pre-approval, or video.

Applies to: all cannabis establishment licensees, adult-use and medical. Regulator: Rhode Island Cannabis Control Commission.

  • Advertising is defined broadly, with no carve-out for in-store menus or displays. “"Advertising" means the act or practice of calling public attention to one’s product or service” (560-RICR-10-10-2.2(A)(1))
  • Required on advertising: the universal symbol in color, the establishment’s license number, and the statement "For Ages 21+ and medical cannabis patients." (560-RICR-10-10-2.8(B)(3))
  • No suggestion of curative or unproven therapeutic effects. “Suggest or imply that cannabis has curative or unproven therapeutic effects” (560-RICR-10-10-2.8(B)(4)(a))
  • Nothing that appears to target under-21s: no animal or cartoon characters, toys, cartoon writing, images of minors, or fluorescent or neon colors. “Include images, symbols, wording or fonts that could be attractive to children, including but not limited to the use of animal characters, toys, cartoon characters” (560-RICR-10-10-2.8(B)(4)(b)-(e))
  • No display of consumption, use, or transfer of cannabis; no encouraging excessive consumption; no alcohol or nicotine content; no depiction of people under the influence. (560-RICR-10-10-2.8(B)(4)(f)-(h), (j))
  • Advertising may not be displayed or disseminated within 500 feet of a pre-existing K-12 school; whether that reaches a screen visible through a window is not stated. (560-RICR-10-10-2.8(B)(4)(i))
  • The medium must reasonably reach an audience at least 85 percent 21 and older. (560-RICR-10-10-2.8(C))
  • No restriction on advertising prices, discounts, or specials was found in the current rule; the former DBR rule that reportedly banned price and discount terms was repealed effective September 15, 2025. (560-RICR-10-10-2.8; 230-RICR-80-05-1 (repealed))
  • No general pre-approval or fee; only advertising media not listed in the rule need Commission approval. No sign count or size limit was found. (560-RICR-10-10-2.8(B)(2)(e))
  • If a third party, such as a brand, runs a non-compliant ad using the store’s name or location, the licensee must notify the Commission and send a cease-and-desist. (560-RICR-10-10-2.8(B)(5))

Potency on menus: No rule found for menus or screens. Package labels must carry the cannabinoid profile per serving and per package (560-RICR-10-10-2.7.2).

Where the rule is "keep it accurate," a menu that reads from the POS does the work: sold-out products drop off on their own and the price on the wall is the price at the register. Where the rule is about content, the layout and the campaign are yours to keep inside the lines.

TV menus in Rhode Island: questions, answered

Which POS systems does Seed support in Rhode Island?

The majors: Dutchie, Treez, Blaze, Flowhub, COVA, LeafLogix, Meadow, Weave, MJ Freeway, IndicaOnline, and more. Products, prices, stock status, and specials flow from your POS to every screen automatically — here’s exactly what syncs.

How fast do menu changes show up on screen?

Menus re-check your POS about every ten minutes by default, and you can trigger an immediate refresh from Seed Manager whenever you need one. We’d rather tell you the real number than claim “instant.”

Do I need to buy new TVs?

No. Seed runs on any TV with an HDMI port. Most stores use the Amazon Signage Stick (code SEEDSAMZN takes 10% off) or an Apple TV 4K. The full rundown is on our hardware page, and the TV buying guide covers sizes, panels, and what to skip.

Can I show my deals and specials?

Deals are what screens do best. Specials sync from your POS along with everything else — including strike-through pricing — and Seed’s campaign tools let you feature a deal big on any screen, at any store, on a schedule.

What does it cost?

Pricing is per location with unlimited screens, playlists, and users — add a screen over the register or three more down the sales floor and your bill stays put. Book a demo for a quote on your store count.

How fast can my store go live?

Most Rhode Island stores would follow the same playbook as everywhere else: signed to screens live in about a week, with our design team building your first layouts from your brand. Book a demo and we’ll show your actual menu on screen.
