TV MENUS IN KENTUCKY

The menu is the store

Kentucky’s medical market opened in January 2026 — the newest dispensaries in the country are picking their tech stacks right now. A medical menu carries more weight than a retail one — patients plan purchases, compare options, and notice discrepancies. A wall that always matches the register is table stakes, and it should never require somebody’s morning to maintain.

LIVE POS SYNC

Never sell what you don’t have.

Sold out? Off the menu before anyone asks for it. New price at the register? On the wall without anyone retyping a thing. Seed menus read your live POS inventory, so the most-read surface in your store is also the most accurate.

IN-STORE SCREEN RULES · KENTUCKY

What you can show on screens in Kentucky

Kentucky is a medical-only market where the statute and rule prohibit advertising medicinal cannabis sales by any "advertising device," with exceptions limited to identifying signs on the property, directory and publication listings, event sponsorship, and an informational website or social media presence. No provision addresses in-store menus or screens, so their status is not settled. What is settled: dispensaries may use coupons, loyalty programs, and discounts, may list product prices and permitted inducements on their website, and may give away only educational materials and branded merchandise, never cannabis. Any sign or informational material must be free of deceptive, false, or misleading statements, and the website rules bar content targeting people under 18 and non-educational depictions of consumption. Required in-store signs are the video-surveillance and no-under-18 entrance sign and the "product example" label on display samples, and the cabinet may order removal of non-conforming signs.

Applies to: medical only; all licensed cannabis businesses. Regulator: Kentucky Office of Medical Cannabis.

  • Cannabis businesses may not advertise medicinal cannabis sales in print, broadcast, online, by paid solicitation, or by any other advertising device; the listed exceptions do not mention in-store menus or screens. “Cannabis businesses shall not advertise medicinal cannabis sales in print, broadcast, online, by paid in-person solicitation of customers, or by any other advertising device” (915 KAR 1:090 § 1(1); KRS 218B.095(2)(f))
  • Signs on the property identifying the business are permitted. (915 KAR 1:090 § 1(1)(a))
  • No deceptive, false, or misleading statements on any advertising, sign, listing, or informational material. “shall not make any deceptive, false, or misleading assertions or statements on any advertising, advertising device, sign, listing, or informational material” (915 KAR 1:090 § 1(3))
  • Coupons, loyalty programs, and discounts are authorized inducements; giveaways are limited to educational materials and branded merchandise. Inducements may not push use beyond practitioner recommendations. “(a) The use of coupons, loyalty programs, and discounts; or (b) The giving away of educational materials and branded merchandise.” (915 KAR 1:070 § 5(5))
  • Websites and social media may list product prices and permitted inducements; they may not target people under 18 or depict consumption without an educational benefit, and must carry the cardholder-only and keep-out-of-reach statements. (915 KAR 1:090 § 2)
  • Display samples must carry a bold, capital-letter sign: "PRODUCT EXAMPLE FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY. NOT FOR SALE OR CONSUMPTION." (915 KAR 1:070 § 5(4)(a))
  • Required entrance sign: premises under constant video surveillance; no one under 18 permitted to enter. (915 KAR 1:070 § 4(5))
  • The cabinet may order removal of any advertising, sign, listing, or online material it finds in violation. (915 KAR 1:090 § 3(1))
  • No provisions on window visibility, sign size or count, pre-approval, fees, video or motion signs, or warnings on in-store displays were found. (915 KAR 1:090; 915 KAR 1:070)

Potency on menus: No rule found for menus or displays. Labeling must disclose cannabinoids and terpenoids (KRS 218B.140).

Where the rule is "keep it accurate," a menu that reads from the POS does the work: sold-out products drop off on their own and the price on the wall is the price at the register. Where the rule is about content, the layout and the campaign are yours to keep inside the lines.

TV menus in Kentucky: questions, answered

Which POS systems does Seed support in Kentucky?

The majors: Dutchie, Treez, Blaze, Flowhub, COVA, LeafLogix, Meadow, Weave, MJ Freeway, IndicaOnline, and more. Products, prices, stock status, and specials flow from your POS to every screen automatically — here’s exactly what syncs.

How fast do menu changes show up on screen?

Menus re-check your POS about every ten minutes by default, and you can trigger an immediate refresh from Seed Manager whenever you need one. We’d rather tell you the real number than claim “instant.”

Do I need to buy new TVs?

No. Seed runs on any TV with an HDMI port. Most stores use the Amazon Signage Stick (code SEEDSAMZN takes 10% off) or an Apple TV 4K. The full rundown is on our hardware page, and the TV buying guide covers sizes, panels, and what to skip.

Can I show my deals and specials?

Deals are what screens do best. Specials sync from your POS along with everything else — including strike-through pricing — and Seed’s campaign tools let you feature a deal big on any screen, at any store, on a schedule.

What does it cost?

Pricing is per location with unlimited screens, playlists, and users — add a screen over the register or three more down the sales floor and your bill stays put. Book a demo for a quote on your store count.

How fast can my store go live?

Most Kentucky stores would follow the same playbook as everywhere else: signed to screens live in about a week, with our design team building your first layouts from your brand. Book a demo and we’ll show your actual menu on screen.
